We are Green Party members who think the party should support HS2 and Northern Powerhouse Rail because they will have a big part in a low-CO2 sustainable transport network for the UK in the 2030s and beyond. High Speed Rail supports our sustainable transport goals, nationally and locally.
NEWS – Our motion supporting HS2 Passed!
Our motion at the Green Party Conference in favour of investment in high speed rail for the Midlands and the North was passed! This brings the party into a position of supporting HS2 in full and Northern Powerhouse Rail, but with important caveats. Read all about it here: Our conference motion.
We know that many members will be confused and / or upset that what seemed like baked-in party policy has changed, and may be questioning whether the party is for them any more. We hope to reassure them that Green principles and policy goals remain absolutely central to the policy.
Watch out here for new material explaining the policy position and why Greens should back it.
Greens4HS2 members will always be available to discuss and explain the policy patiently and respectfully.
